Objectives
TERRASCAPE has one key objective: to modernise and strengthen the range of courses on offer in remote sensing, geomatics and applied entrepreneurship in order to better address the contemporary challenges facing the African continent.
To achieve this, the project focuses simultaneously on teaching content, the skills of academic staff, student employability and the links between the university and society.
Main activities of the project
Modernize
Modernize undergraduate and graduate programs at partner African universities by updating existing curricula and creating new modules tailored to scientific and technological advancements.
Train
Train faculty members in emerging Earth observation technologies, new sensors, advanced analytical methods, and digital data processing tools to enhance their pedagogical and scientific autonomy.
Develop
Develop students’ skills through hands-on training, summer schools, and programs that foster the acquisition of practical expertise directly applicable in the public, private, and academic sectors.
Integrate
Integrate entrepreneurship into training programs to encourage the creation of innovative ventures, the development of startups, and the local application of geospatial skills.
Strengthen
Strengthen ties between universities, businesses, agencies, and socio-economic stakeholders through mentoring initiatives, student challenges, and networking opportunities.
Promotion
Promote inclusion and expand access to education for disadvantaged or underserved populations, with a focus on equity and sustainable impact.
TERRASCAPE aims to support the emergence of a new generation of graduates who can become leaders in sustainable development and innovation in their countries.
